Systematic Passes

Do you have any systematic passes you use out of 2×2 or 2×1 sets?

We run a lot of mirror concepts where the routes are the same on both sides. QB picks easy side based on scouting report, coverage, or personnel mismatch. Sometimes it could be all 3. Honestly, we run a lot of the same routes most programs run. No real “identity” passes we hang our hat on. Just a mix of horizontal and vertical route combos.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking more of your Package Play RPO’s. You explained Dallas and Warrior out of 4×1 and 3×1 respectively.

Oh, gotcha. Those are all game relative. It really depends on how we want to attack someone in a particular week if we need them. The thing about the packaged plays is we tailor them to the opponent. One week it may be perfect by design, the next week useless because of structure, ability, play of the defense. You can make a packaged play from anything based on where you see deficiencies or potential points to attack.

So, for now. We haven’t really used many from 2×2 just because teams don’t over compensate much where we know where they’re going to be so to speak or how they’re going to defend us. We like it from 3×1 because usually we get our best WR 1 on 1 backside and the defense has to make some choices. We then pick the best play based on their choice. Against 2×2 we aren’t as likely to be in that scenario.
