Blitzing 2 off the edge to a TE-side

Hi coach! Love your system and clear explanations. I have a question about the 2 off the edge blitzes to a TE-side (3 man surface). Do you teach the edge blitzers to still need to get to the C and B gaps or does it become the D-C gaps? If so, who plays the B gap? Or do you only do them against a 2 man surface?

Jim…GREAT question. To be honest…I am not a big fan of bringing 2 off edge to a TE. In 9 years…probably have only done it 10x…that doesn’t mean you can’t do it…I just don’t like to for the exact reason you mentioned. I would cancel out A/B Gaps…and have your edge blitzer do D…the big thing is if the TE blocks or releases.
If the TE releases…then you are good…the edge guy is now in C.
vs. Run I usually like to bring the pressure away from the TE and slant towards it…because most teams run to the TE.
